Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
Last updated: August 2026
The short version: AKINRAY is not a law firm, does not give legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. What you type is not protected by attorney-client privilege. We store the minimum needed to make the packet and sync features work, and we don't sell your information.
What AKINRAY is
AKINRAY is an organizing tool. It takes what you tell it about a legal situation and turns it into a plain-language timeline and a packet you can bring to an actual attorney. It does not evaluate your case, predict an outcome, or tell you what to do. Nothing AKINRAY produces should be your only basis for a legal decision.
No attorney-client relationship, no privilege
Using AKINRAY does not create an attorney-client relationship of any kind. Because AKINRAY is not a law firm, attorney-client privilege does not apply to anything you type here. Treat your intake conversation the way you'd treat a public post — assume it could be seen or used later. This is stated up front in the app itself before you begin.
What we collect and why
- Intake conversation and timeline. What you type during intake is sent to Anthropic's API to generate AKINRAY's responses and extract timeline entries. It is not used to train any AI model.
- Case state. The state you select is used only to tailor general procedural notes — it's stored with your case, not shared elsewhere.
- Case ID and passphrase. If you turn on cross-device sync, your case data is stored under a Case ID you control, protected by a passphrase you choose. We store a one-way cryptographic hash of your passphrase, never the passphrase itself. There is no password recovery — if you lose your Case ID or passphrase, that case cannot be restored by us or anyone else.
- Payment information. If you unlock the full packet feature, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. AKINRAY never sees or stores your card details — we only receive confirmation that a specific Case ID was paid for.
- Recordings. The "Record an encounter" feature saves video/audio directly to your device. It is never uploaded to AKINRAY or any server — we have no access to it at all.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We don't use your case content for advertising.
- We don't require an account, email address, or real name to use AKINRAY.
- We don't track you across other websites.
Third parties involved
- Anthropic processes intake conversations to generate responses, under its own API data-handling terms.
- Stripe processes payments if you choose to unlock the packet feature, under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts the storage used for cross-device sync and payment-unlock status.
How long we keep data
Synced case data is kept until you delete it or request removal. Because there's no account or email tied to a case, the only way we can identify "your" case is the Case ID itself — if you'd like a case deleted, contact us with the Case ID.
Your choices
- You can use AKINRAY's intake, timeline, plea sheet, and know-your-rights features without ever enabling sync or providing any identifying information.
- You can request deletion of a synced case at any time by contacting us with its Case ID.
- You can stop using AKINRAY at any time — nothing is retained on your device beyond your browser's own local storage, which you can clear yourself.
Recording feature — know the law where you are
Consent requirements for recording another person vary by state. AKINRAY provides a general note based on the state you select, but this is general information, not legal advice specific to your situation — confirm with an attorney if you're unsure.
